3D model of K2 — the world's second-highest mountain
K2, or Chhogori (8,611 m), is the second-highest summit on Earth, in the Karakoram on the border of Pakistan and China. It is called the “savage mountain” for its difficulty and danger; an Italian expedition made the first ascent in 1954.

The model covers about 10×10 km: K2's near-symmetrical pyramid, the Baltoro glacier region below and the sharp neighbouring ridges. The faces are so steep that rocky sides emphasise the mountain's character.
